Connections
Margot and Sara met while working for the March of Dimes in Providence eighteen years ago. Margot was crafting press releases and Sara was volunteering, and creating ingenious invitations using Scrabble tiles, as Hasbro was one of the event sponsors. Margot was so impressed with Sara’s creativity and professionalism that she started contracting with Sara as a graphic designer at each job she went to! They both had a long tenure at the Massachusetts Council on Compulsive Gambling, where they worked with the Lottery and other stakeholders to raise the awareness of services available to people who were experiencing problems with their gambling. They both still smile when they see the Helpline sticker that they created, which is now posted on all the Lottery machines or when “their TV ad” comes on in bars and restaurants as people play Keno.
Education
As Strategic Marketing Manager for Riverview School for nearly seven years, Margot was responsible for the school’s brand, marketing, messaging and materials, as well as public relations initiatives. She managed the school’s website, social media, digital marketing, advertising, printed materials, videos, photos and other forms of communication. Other members and partners of the Communication Savvy Team have worked with schools including: Friends Academy, Prout, Providence College, the University of Rhode Island, the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and Brown University.

“The project in which we worked most extensively and where I was able to witness most the skill and ability of Ms. Cahoon was in the planning and implementation of the 25th anniversary celebration for the Mass Council in 2007. Throughout the lengthily planning process, Margot demonstrated an ability to manage the multiple marketing and public relations aspects of the initiative, the capability to be responsive to the various constituencies involved in the anniversary event and great instincts and ideas for making the event a success.”
“Margot is a strong and fair leader who is easy to work with. She has a strong sense of loyalty and teamwork and leads by example. I can always count on Margot to guide and support me, as well as to step in and defuse a difficult situation.”
